Deciding what to bring to University for the first term can be very stressful. Most people will pack fartoo much and your Mum will try and make sure you have everything from the extra knitted jumper to the extra kitchen sink. Below is a short list of what we thin you should consider bringing. For the kitchen DocumentsWhat Should You Bring?
• Mugs, glasses, wine glasses or pint glasses
• 2 plates, bowls (Its always nice to eat from your own plates as you know where they have been)
• 2 knives forks and spoons (unless you fancy eating from your fingers)
• At least one sharp knife and a chopping board
• Peeler or grater
• sauce pan with wooden spoon or spatula
• Potato Masher
• Sealable box (to keep your food fresh)
• tin opener (as tins are very hard to open without one)
• bottle opener (for those quite nights in)
For the bedroom
• Sheets
• Duvet
• Pillows and pillow cases
• Hot water bottle
• Laundry Bag (better to place it in a bag than all over the floor)
• Coat hangers (You can never have enough of them)
• Alarm Clock (for those early morning 11am lectures!)
• Stereo
• Posters
• Photos of family and home (for simple reminders)
• Fairy lights, disco ball, police light, lava lamps
• Extension leads (a few extra pugs never go a miss)
• A memory stick (for your new laptop is always a good idea to back up work)
• Mobile phone charger
• Don’t forget your clothes!
• Fancy dress during freshers week
• Some smart clothes for job interviews
Health Care
• Tooth Brush and paste
• Wash bag (containing soap shower gel shampoo/conditioner, nail clippers etc)
• Deodorant/ cologne
• Hair gel
• Hairbrush
• Hairdryer/ straightners
• Pain killers (always handy for those aches and pains)
• Condoms (for those emergency water balloons)
• Pro plus (for those all nighters doing assignments)
• Washing powder (if you have sensitive skin it is sensible to bring your preferred brand)
• Passport Photos (always handy)
• Passport or driving license (proof of identity)
• National Insurance number
• TV License (Only if you bring a TV that is, as it is a criminal offence not to have one)
• CV and References (important for job hunting)
• Bank account details and cards ( no cards or details = no money)
For Studying
• A pad of lined paper
• A4 folder (to organize your notes)
• Pens, pencils, highlighters
• Diary (always handy to have for appointments)
• White-tac (prevents marking the walls and keeps the accommodation officer off your back)
